Female Renal Scan (Kidneys, Bladder)
The purpose of this scan is to assess the size, shape, and condition of the kidneys and bladder
During the scan we will look in detail at the size, shape and condition of the:
- Bladder when full and immediately after emptying
- Both kidneys
The scan is performed by our qualified sonographer with extensive diagnostic scanning experience and aims to:
- Evaluate potential effects of urinary tract infections (UTIs).
- Identify obstructions caused by kidney or bladder stones.
- Investigate possible causes of persistent bladder issues.
Your 20-minute appointment includes:
- Detailed report provided after the scan
- Email containing all images
- Medical follow-up recommendation if applicable
If further medical follow-up is recommended based on the scan results, we can facilitate communication with your healthcare provider at no extra cost, provided that you provide us with their contact details. This ensures seamless communication and continuity of care between our scan service and your healthcare provider, allowing for any necessary follow-up actions or treatments to be promptly addressed.
The scan will be performed transabdominally, therefore you need to attend with full bladder. Please drink 3-4 pints of water one hour before the scan appointment.
