Upper abdominal scan

Upper Abdominal Scan

£110

The upper abdominal scan is designed to thoroughly examine the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, and kidneys.

An upper abdominal ultrasound can detect a variety of conditions, including:

  • Gallstones or gallbladder inflammation
  • Liver diseases such as cirrhosis or fatty liver
  • Abnormal growths like tumours or cysts
  • Kidney stones or blockages
  • Pancreatic inflammation or pancreatitis
  • Spleen size abnormalities
What will I get?

Your 20-minute appointment includes:

  • Detailed report provided after the scan
  • Email containing all images
  • Medical follow-up recommendation if applicable

If further medical follow-up is recommended based on the scan results, we can facilitate communication with your healthcare provider at no extra cost, provided that you provide us with their contact details. This ensures seamless communication and continuity of care between our scan service and your healthcare provider, allowing for any necessary follow-up actions or treatments to be promptly addressed.

IMPORTANT

As any other diagnostic method, upper abdominal ultrasound has its limitations:

  • It may encounter difficulty imaging through air or gas, affecting visualization through the bowel.
  • Differentiating between solid tumours and cysts can be challenging.
  • Higher BMI may reduce image clarity due to increased tissue depth.
  • Small lesions or early-stage diseases may not always be detectable.
PREPARATION

The scan will be conducted transabdominally.

To assess the liver and biliary tract accurately, fasting for at least 5-6 hours before your examination is required.

The urinary system is included in this abdominal examination, so please attend with a full bladder. Drink 3-4 pints of water one hour before your scan appointment.
